With many mills and aggregate processing plants demanding exact load weights, it is vital for contracting and aggregate businesses to ensure that deliveries are not rejected. The obvious answer is to use a weighbridge, but there is another option…
Onboard Weighing Systems are designed for bulk transport applications. At Bailey we specify the ‘Cropweigh’ Onboard Weighing System. ‘Cropweigh’ is manufactured in the UK by Vehicle Weighing Solutions (VWS) and is available as a ‘factory fit’ option on new Bailey hydraulic tipping trailers from 14 tonnes and upwards.
Saves valuable time
‘Cropweigh’ is designed to provide operators with accurate load readings in the field or on site, therefore saving valuable time by eliminating the need to stop at a weighbridge. Potential overloads are avoided by measuring the payload via heavy-duty hardened steel load sensors, which monitor degrees of body tilt to the left and right. An optional body inclinometer offers greater tipping safety on uneven ground.
Designed for harsh conditions
For added protection in harsh conditions, installation friendly automotive connectors are moulded onto the wiring cables to provide a quick connect alternative to hard wiring. For increased moisture protection, quality environmental sealing to marine standards keeps electricals dry.
Minimises trailer wear and tear
Operator safety is paramount in the design of a Bailey trailer. By monitoring loads ‘Cropweigh’ minimises wear and tear to the running gear, tyres and braking systems, therefore, aiding operator safety and the safety of others.
Provides real time data
Data can be accessed in the tractor cab via the phone app using Wi-Fi to connect to the weighing system on the trailer for real time load information.

Customer verdict…
Willie Lean runs an agricultural and groundworks contracting business situated between Inverness and Nairn. The business runs a 24 tonne tri-axle Bailey Contract Tipper (CT24) to haul anything from grain and muck to top and sub soils. Their CT24 is fitted with an onboard “Cropweigh” weighing system, which has more than paid for itself.
